This athletic competition is planned for this May 17 and takes place in The Woodlands area. Contestants will compete in three physical events: swimming, biking and running. The swimming portion occurs at Lake Woodlands and is one lap of 2.4 miles. The 112-mile bike course begins and ends in the Woodlands and runs through the east Texas farmlands. The 26.2-mile running course takes place in the heart of the Woodlands.
The Run Rock event offers a unique and fun way to experience a 5-kilometer race. Local bands provide musical entertainment as the competitors run, walk or dance toward the finish line. Virtually anyone can participate because the course is flat and easy to navigate, and the race isn’t timed. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. on September 12. Participants can celebrate afterward at the indoor finish festival, which runs until 11 p.m.
The 5th Gear CrossFit fitness center hosts this competition solely for moms and stepmothers. Several categories covering various skill levels are available. Regardless of your abilities, you can participate against other moms in your category and see how you measure up. There are even bounce houses set up for the little ones to get moving and burn some energy. The event takes place at the fitness center in Houston on July 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Athletic National Championships are cheer and dance competitions held around the country. On November 23, the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston will be hosting one of these events. It is a one-day silver-level championship competition. The event features large and small gym divisions as well as an All Star Prep division for beginner or half-year squads. Teams will compete for national titles at this athletic championship series.
